VS#1747 Woodford Green Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Abigails: This one has gone walkabouts again. I was never 100% happy with its placement so surprised to see it having over 100 finds! Thanks for everyone who visited. Time to free to up the space for others.

Geocache Description:

The village sign (near the corner of the High Road and Broadmead Road) depicts forest cattle, All Saints’ spire, a cricket wicket and the Churchill statue.

The items on the sign relate to various aspects of the area:

  • Churchill was the MP for the area for 40 years.
  • The sign overlooks Woodford Green Cricket Club which was founded in 1735 and is the oldest cricket club in the world that still plays on the original ground.
  • All Saints’ spire on the sign is in reference to All Saints church a short walk away – there is a cache there too: GC8KEN9  (Blatant plug by the CO for another one of his caches!)
  • And the cattle relates to the proximity to Epping Forest.

If anybody would like to expand the Village Sign Series, please do. I would ask that you let Smokeypugs know first at www.villagesignseries.co.uk so they can keep track of the Village Sign numbers and names to avoid duplication.
