Stuck in town, stuck at home? Wishing you were out of town, at the beach, in the mountains? At Carderock you can take a walk along a river front trail or scale cliffs. The picnic grounds are spacious, the pavillion is available (rentals restart in August), there are picnic tables and grills under the trees and on the lawn, plenty of space to spread out. You may want to bring folding chairs or picnic blankets if the weather is nice. We'll use the tables in the shelter if it's raining.
If you would like to grill, let me know. I can bring a bag of charcoal, easy since we live very close by.
In the area there a number of relatively new caches, and a new Rock Run cache has been approved and will publish at the event. Everyone who signs the log between publication and the end of the event will be part of the FTF group. Also, everyone who attends the event will receive the coords for a nearby icebreaker puzzle cache hidden at the 2017 MGS Summer Picnic event.
We will be there at 5:30, if you want to check in and have a fresh baked brownie. We will also have cans of tropical juices, sodas and seltzer with plastic cups and ice provided. Come any time from the start to finish and stay as long or as little as you wish.
Looking forward to seeing some new cachers, putting faces to the names we see on logs, and greeting old friends.
