Geocache Description:

08 August 2020, 12:30 - 13:30

Every year I like to plan a geo-event to celebrate birthdays for my son and me together. The dates fall during that boring time of the summer when 4th of July festivities are over, kids aren't ready to go back to school yet, and it is HOT!

This year the event is a twist on my usual get-together at Valley Shelter, which was not available to reserve this year.  The park was not even  accepting applications. So, Instead of driving in and getting out of our cars and bringing fingerly edibles to a communal table or two, we will park in the large lot at the entrance, have our own food/M&M treats in our own cars and wave at each other through our windows.  If you have technology that is portable and you are savy enough to jump on it and connect virtually with others, please feel free to do so.  Oh, bring/wear your mask if you leave your car.  Stay 6 feet away from others.  Hand sanitize/spray down those surfaces where the dreaded virus might linger.

The M&M theme comes out of my caching name, MOMOFM3 and my son's name, which sounds like M3.  It has become a tradition for there to be M&Ms here, but feel free to bring some real food.  Just don't share it this year.

Prospect Hill Park is part of Waltham Parks and Recreation, and also home to many very fine geocaches.  A rudementary trail map can be viewed in 2 parts below, or pick up a brochure at the kiosk at the gate.

I've got my M&M series of caches located throughout the park and some others.  Waltham is chock full of caching opportunities, and history...you'll learn a lot from reading a cache page, and you might get a work out if you're not paying attention!. Be prepared for some mountain terrain, ticks, mosquitos, and slippery and/or loose rocks if you go up the hill. This site actually used to be a ski area, and you can see  some of the old equipment further up.

Note:  The southern entrance looks like it's open to cars, but is NOT.  Seek out Totten Pond Road.   On the plus side, if you end up at that side of the park, you can go shopping. Access to that mall is on Main Street / Route 117 or from the end of 5th Avenue to the Northwest.
