Geocache Description:

The listed coordinates will take you to the front of the Peace Memorial Hall on the corner of Church Road.  The Foundation Stone is dated 11th November, 1926.  It is a registered charity and forms part of the Penkridge Memorial, being used for village events, charities and private bookings  The Hall still is, as originally intended, an asset to the life of the community.

The Penkridge War Memorial was unveiled in April 1921.  It was dedicated to, and records the names of, men from Penkridge and Teddesley Hay who perished in the 1914-1918 Great War.  The names of all those from the 1939-1945 war have been added to the side walls of the Memorial.

It is in the form of a Gothic shrine with a canopied crucifix and crocketed finials around the central spire.  It is made of stone similar to its abutting walls and the church behind it.  The iron railings in front of the shrine are used to hang the Remembrance Day tributes to the fallen in November each year.

Please show respect when visiting the Memorial.

Plenty of free parking is usually available near the church, in or near St Michael's Square.  Please be aware that unless you wish to visit the market, it would be best to avoid market days, i.e. Wednesdays and Saturdays, when parking is more difficult.

The cache.  Begin by visiting the posted coordinates, the Peace Memorial Hall.  Collect the answers to the first three questions before walking up Church Road until you reach the War Memorial.  Please take a few moments to read some of the names before you tackle the remaining three questions.  Once you have the final coordinates proceed through the churchyard and the through the little tunnel under the railway towards Pinfold Lane.  Please take care at GZ, particularly with children or pets as the lane can be busy with fast traffic at certain times.

At the Peace Memorial Hall -

1.  There are three metal inspection covers in the paving outside the front of the Hall - one rectangular, one square and one circular.  The square one is secured by A screws.

4.  Looking only at the names referring to 1939-1945, there are D letters in Ernest's surname.

5.  To the left of the Memorial, as you face it, there is a white street sign saying Church Road.  Look closely at it.  How many words are cast into the metal plate under the street name?  This is E.

6.  Move to the left again.  There are F letters in the word on the small square plate in the ground in front of the church gates.
