Geocache Description:

This multi-cache is based on Cleator Moor Square; unfortunately due to the proximity guidelines I was unable to also place the final on The Square. It is only a short walk away. The co-ordinates will take you to the War Memorial. It is a Soldier and Nurse, not the more usual monument with names.

Stage 1. The War Memorial.  N 54° 31.278' W 3° 30.964'  How many stripes on the soldier's arm? (One arm) This is 'A'

Stage 2. The Fountain. N 54° 31.281' W 3° 30.966'  The Fountain was opened on September 'D' 1903.

Stage 3.  Cleator Moor Town Council. N 54° 31.273' W 3° 31.001' Engraved in the sandstone above the door are two words. Number of letters in the first word is is 'F'  Just to help, there are seven letters in the second word.

Stage 4. Cleator Moor Library. N 54° 31.273' W 3° 31.001'  There is a plaque to L.S.Lowry here. The number of letters in the name of the Fish and Chip shop is 'C'. Sadly the shop is no longer open.

Stage 5. Sculpture(s). N 54° 31.263' W 3° 30.976'  On the sculptures find the outline of a miners pick-axe. Above this are two words. How many letters make up the words? This is 'B'

Stage 6. N 54° 31.278' W 3° 30.964'  To find the value of 'E'. Return to stages 1, 3 & 4. Either side of the doorway of these 3 buildings are a number of square and round pillars (Obviously a compromise when the buildings were designed by committee) Count the total number of pillars. This will give you a two digit number. The second digit is 'E'. For example, if there are 12 pillars, 'E' would be 2.

The cache can be found at N54 31.ABC'   W03 30.DEF'

If anybody would like to expand the War Memorial Series, please do. I would ask that you let Just-us-Two know first by filling in the contact form on the War Memorial Series website warmemorialseries.co.uk https://warmemorialseries.co.uk/ so they can keep track of the War Memorial numbers and names to avoid duplication.
