I have noticed that there are A LOT of geocachers that also enjoy riding bikes when they are not geocaching...teambecks, jollywally, borky00, northeast nosers, birgen family, bramasoleiowa, and several more.  (I'm certain that I am forgetting some cachers, so please do not be offended if I missed you!)  So I thought that it would be fun to have a bike riding event and hit the trails.  PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION SO THAT YOU KNOW WHERE AND WHEN TO MEET!  We will be on a tight time schedule, so we won't be able to wait for anyone - please make sure that you know where and when we are meeting so that you don't get left behind.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

If you want to bike to the event, meet at N 41 57.959 W 91 39.616.  We will LEAVE this location at 5:00 pm and head south on the bike trail towards Ely.  This is a 9.2 mile ride so we need to leave right at 5:00. We won't be able to wait for anyone (Sorry, no turtle time!)   Dan and Debbie's closes as 7:00 pm so we want to get there by 6:00.  There are a few hills but the trail is mostly flat.  I can usually make this trip in about 45 minutes or less.  (Borky00 can probably make the trip in 20 minutes if there is a beer waiting for him on the other end!)  Everyone can ride at their own pace.  If you think that you might need more time, you can always leave before 5:00.

The actual event is going to be held at Dan and Debbie's Creamery in Ely, Iowa (1600 Main Street) at 6:00 pm.  If you don't want to take part in the bike ride, you can just go straight to the event and we will meet you when we arrive.  If we are not there yet, someone please start a log book. 

In case of bad weather, I may have to cancel the bike ride but we can still meet at the creamery!  If the ride has to be cancelled, I will make an announcement on the cache listing.  (of course, if you haven't posted a Will Attend, you may not receive that notification)

When you log your Will Attend, please indicate if you will be riding or just meeting in Ely.

Other things to keep in mind:

• Practice Social Distancing - observe local recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID19 - please keep a 6 foot distance from other cachers and masks are encouraged
• If you don't feel comfortable staying for the entire event, you are welcome to leave once I have seen you. You don't even have to leave your car. 
• Remember that if you bike to the event, you will also need to bike back to the starting point  (you may want a light on your bike if it gets dark)
• Cache within your limits - if you can't handle the bike ride, go right to the event and we will see you there!  I don't want anyone to struggle or get hurt along the way
• Dan and Debbie's Cremery is AMAZING!  If you haven't eaten there before, you are in for a treat!  
• You do not have to purchase anything or ride your bike to log this event
