Geocache Description:

Ysgyryd Fach, or Little Skirrid, is a pleasant little hill overlooking Abergavenny, but despite it's proximity to this well-known town, it is rarely walked by anyone that doesn't live nearby. This is an attempt to remedy this by way of placing a very short two and quarter mile route up the side and over the top, to compliment my already-placed Ysgyryd Fach cache.

There are 7 caches on this little route, plus my aforementioned Ysgyryd Fach and it was originally planned as a there-and-back-again route of Little Bridge caches (the first five on the route) but I thought it would be nice to guide people over the top if they wanted to do the hill properly as it were. There are a couple of simple multis and the rest are traditionals. But you'll need to do them in numerical order that's all to save on backtracking for the multis.

Parking is in a large lay-by on the main Hereford road (waymarked) but I have also waymarked an alternative parking in a much quieter spot that you could use if you wanted to split the climb.

Hope you enjoy this pleasant area which, despite the pylons at the start, has some really splendid views and attractive hidden spots. It is a decent climb if you are not used to hills though and would be suited for energetic children (that'd be pretty much all of them then!) but not pushchairs I'm afraid.

To find the whereabouts of this small/regular sized cache head to the headline co-ords from the parking and answer the questions below to get the info.

How many concrete posts are there? This is A.

Have a look at the second post - how many yellow arrows are on it? This is B.

How many individual sleepers make up the bridge? This is C.

Head slightly further up to the stile. How many arrows on the top bar facing you? This is D.

Now use you answers in the following formula - N51 48.(C+D)(A+D-B)(A+C) W002 59.(A+B+D)(C-D-B)(A+B)

The Little Bridges series was started by Stanthews in 2009 to highlight small footbridges in remote parts of Wiltshire. Since then the series has been expanded by others all over the country and starting to spread fast. There is a stats listing run by Billiethecat, so you can see how many Little Bridges you have found, you can find it here:- https://littlebridgesseries.wordpress.com/ . If you would like to add to the series, please contact Stan on stanthews@aol.com and he will give you a number for your bridge, to qualify, the bridge must be a foot bridge too small for vehicles, please make sure your title exactly matches “Little Bridges # xxxx then the name” including spaces so it will get picked up and added to stats list.
