Een van onze TB's is al een tijdje in Canada op reis, en zo ontstond er contact tussen ons en Mathieu de l'Acadie, een geocacher uit Halifax in de Canadese provincie Nova Scotia. Zoals wel meer Canadezen heeft hij een bijzondere band met Nederland, en zo ontstond het idee om de vriendschap tussen Nederland en Canada te vieren met een tweetal events.
Gelijktijdig met dit Community Celebration Event vindt in Halifax het event GC9HE07 - Hello Netherlands? It's Nova Scotia calling! plaats. Als alles gaat zoals gepland kun je als bezoeker niet alleen contact hebben met geocachers die op dit event in Nederland afkomen, maar ook met de bezoekers van het event aan de andere kant van de Atlantische Oceaan!
Tijdens dit event zal er een speciale mystery cache online komen. Voor het vinden van deze cache is aanwezigheid op het event natuurlijk geen noodzaak maar wel een pré. Wil je de cache gelijk gaan zoeken, dan is het advies om degelijk schoeisel of laarzen mee te nemen.
De lokatie
Het event vindt plaats op het Fort bij Asperen, een van de forten van Unesco Werelderfgoed "Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie". Afhankelijk van de weersomstandigheden vindt dit event geheel of gedeeltelijk binnen plaats in een horeca-gelegenheid. Dat betekent dat de Nederlandse coronaregels m.b.t. horeca van toepassing zijn en dat je dus in het bezit dient te zijn van een coronatoegangsbewijs (QR code + legitimatie). Voor mensen die de horeca niet willen of kunnen bezoeken is buiten ook een logboek aanwezig om te tekenen. In de horeca is een ruime keuze voor versterking van de inwendige mens, uiteraard op eigen kosten.
Als je je wilt uitdossen met maple leaves, mountie hats, beverstaarten of andere Canadese attributen dan juichen we dat toe, maar het is natuurlijk niet verplicht.
I.v.m. de planning van de horeca verzoeken wij je bij je Will Attend aan te geven met hoeveel personen je verwacht te komen.

One of our TBs has been traveling around in Canada for a while, and as a result of that we got into contact with Mathieu de l'Acadie, a geocacher from Halifax in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. Like many Canadians Mathieu has a special bond with the Netherlands, and from that the idea was born to celebrate the friendship between the Netherlands and Canada with a pair of events.
At the same time as this Community Celebration Event, in Halifax the event GC9HE07 - Hello Netherlands? It's Nova Scotia calling! will take place. If everything goes as planned you will be able to have contact not just with people visiting this event in the Netherlands, but also with visitors of the event at the other side of the Atlantic!
During this event a special mystery cache will be published. To find this cache it is of course not necessary to attend the event, but it will be advantageous to do so. If you intend to go looking for the cache immediately, please bring good hiking shoes or boots.
The location
The event will take place at Fort bij Asperen, one of the fortresses of Unesco World Heritage "New Dutch Waterline". Depending on the weather this event will fully or partially take place inside in a diner. This means that the Dutch coronavirus regulations are applicable, so you need to show a proof of vaccination or negative test (QR code plus legitimation). For people who do not want to enter the diner, a logbook will be available outside for signing. Food and beverages are available inside, obviously at your own cost.
If you want to dress yourself up with maple leaves, mountie hats, beaver tails or other Canadian symbols that would be very nice, but of course this is not required.
For the sake of proper planning, please indicate in your Will Attend with how many people you expect to come.
