20 Years of Geocaching Celebration - Kyrenia Beach Bar (The Reschedule! 2021 edition!)
2020 whilst not being the best year globally for getting out and about, did bring big celebrations with it for 20 years of Geocaching!!
Think how much has changed in those 20 years - smartphones, pocket gps devices and google at the drop of a button inside your pocket to help you with those ever tricky puzzle caches.
This year I celebrate 11 years of being a Geocacher myself, and just in those 11 years alone I have seen such a change in the hobby we all know and love. I used to have to print off paper maps of caches and hints and try my best at matching up the location I found with the map I had in my hand. No compass to guide the way, no previous logs to read and certainly no satelite view! I then progressed on to using the sat nav from my car, and plumbing those coords in on pedestrian mode as it sent me blindly across a field.
How far we've come now, and the sucess of geocaching is ever growing. I have met some of the best frineds through geocaching, and explored some of the best bits of unseen countries by way of following those little symbols on the map! I have acess to them all in the comfort of my pocket - pinging me as soon as new caches get published at the drop of a hat (enabling me to at least try and beat you all for those pesky FTFs!)
Join me at Kyrenia Beach Bar on Saturday 10th July at 13:00 to celebrate, and to share your own memories of caching throughout the years - whether new to caching or a caching veteran!
Food will be available on the day from the menu. Please indicate whether you intend to come along by noting your attendance on the event so I can give a rough idea of numbers for the tables.
