Das Penser Joch (italienisch Passo di Pennes) ist ein Gebirgspass in Südtirol in Norditalien. Er verbindet auf 2211 m das Sarntal mit dem Wipptal bei Sterzing. Am Joch treffen der Westkamm und der Ostkamm der Sarnthaler Alpen aufeinander. Der Pass bildet der Luftlinie nach die direkte Verbindung Innsbruck - Bozen. Hier verläuft auch die Grenze der Gemeinden Sarnthal und Freienfeld.
Ich habe diesen Ort ausgewählt weil es hier - bezugnehmend auf die Covid - 19 Situation vieeeeeeel Platz gibt. Es wird hier keinerlei Abstandsprobleme geben. Da sich die Situation allgemein verbessert und in Südtirol eigentlich schon immer sehr gut war sollte dem Event hier nichts entgegenstehen. Trotzdem würde ich bitten einen Mund - Nasenschutz mitzubringen und natürlich den Abstand von 2m von Cacher zu Cacher einzuhalten.
Der Ort hier ist ausserdem immer eine Reise wert, gerade abends hat man hier einen wunderbaren Sonnenuntergang. Den wollen wir gemeinsam genießen und dazu 20 Jahre Groundspeak feiern. Eigentlich unglaublich wie schnell die Zeit vergeht. Ich bin ja erst 5 Jahre nach der Freigabe des GPS Signals geboren.
Wir wollen uns deshalb am abend des 11 Juli 2020 gegen 19 Uhr vor Ort treffen. Das Event geht mindestens 2 Stunden bis 21 Uhr oder bis die Sonne hinter den Bergen verschwunden ist. Getränke bzw was zu essen bringt bitte jeder für sich selber mit. Ebenfalls wäre es super wenn jeder seinen eigenen Stift dabei hätte um das Logbuch zu signieren.

The Penser Joch (Italian: Passo di Pènnes; German Penser Joch) (2211 m) is a high mountain pass in South Tyrol, northern Italy, near the Jaufenpass. It connects Bolzano via the Sarnthal and with Sterzing in the Wipptal. It is the most direct road between Innsbruck and Bolzano. It is traversed by the SS 508 highway, which has a maximum grade of 13 percent. There is a restaurant at the summit. Although, it has been widened repeatedly in recent years, the road is still rather narrow.
For this special Event - celebrating 20 years of Geocaching - i though this place is special, too. In the evening there is a sunset which is breathtaking and so we meet at the evening of July11th on top of the PenserJoch at 7pm in order to see the sunset.
What do we do during those 2 hours : Those of us who are interested in can climb up to the real top nearby, it is a short walk but requires some good condition, in order to reach the cross on the top of the mountain. From there the sunset is even better. Additionaly we will have some food and drinks, due to COVID-19 everyone should bring its own food and drinks - and so we can spend the time to discuss about past Geocaching stories and future planned activites for new Geocaching adventures. My dad will for sure tell the story about his first geocoin back in 2007 and when he went to an Geocache in an abandond prison in southwest Germany (Alactraz).
