Welcome to NYCRG's 19th Annual Picnic
All are welcome, seasoned cachers and the new ones just learning the game.
This year we will return to Thacher Park and Thompson's Lake Campground.
Whether you make a day or weekend of it, we are certain you will have a great time.
Do you remember the last time we were here?
Its time to make some new memories and we hope you can be a part of the fun.
Come on out and catch up with old friends and meet new ones. Share geocaching experiences, successful and not so successful. We will have a few games and activities for all, young and old. Event will be held rain or shine.
Lots of nearby caches to be found including the State Parks Capital Region Geocaching Challenge caches.
Attending this event will enable cachers to commemorate the 20th anniversary of geocaching with a new icon and souvenir.
The plan is simple. We will meet at Thacher Park in the Greenhouse Pavilion from 0900 - 1600
on Saturday, September 18th, 2021. The coordinates for this event are in the parking lot of Greenhouse Pavilion (watch for sign along main road).
Due to Covid-19 pandemic there will not be a pot luck picnic for the safety of all. Attendees wishing to eat will need to BYO. Bottled water and individual wrapped snacks will be provided. The coffee pot will be on.
Attendees can expect some familiar games and activities mixed with some new ones to enjoy.
(Prizes for the winners, of course)
We will need volunteers to help, donate geo - prizes, run games, etc..
NYCRG will provide coffee, bottled water & wrapped snacks.

The cache page will be updated/ revised as needed and as we draw closer. If information is missing or unclear, please let us know. We hope you mark your calenders for what will prove to be another NYCRG picnic success.
Optional camping for the weekend is available at Thompson's Lake Campground. It is located 3 miles from Thacher.
COVID-19 information: Please do not attend the event if you are sick or have any symptoms of COVID-19 or meet quarantine criteria as defined by either NYS or your home state's DOH. CDC symptoms list can be found here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html. If NYS public gathering limits are reinstated the event may be canceled.
