CITO Old Erie Canal Clean-Up Cache In Trash Out Event

This cache has been archived.

New York Admin: Hi and hope everyone is well.

Geocaching dates should not be changed post publication. If you read HQ's announcement on this cache dated 20 March 2020 clearly if an event is not allowed to happen there are instructions how to deal with it. For your convenience I have included those instructions below.

quote:

For hosts who wish to cancel their Events, we suggest that they:
1. Create an Announcement log to notify users that the Event is cancelled.
2. Archive the listing.
3. If hosts wish to reschedule the Event, submit a new listing.

As you can see to reschedule an event it should be archived and resubmitted. This event has already been rescheduled twice which runs afoul to the instructions above from HQ. Based on that I am archiving this event listing today.

When social gatherings are once again permuted by the governor's office please resubmit your event.

Geocache Description:

19 June 2020, 17:30 - 19:00

Let's help out the parks by holding a spring clean up event. We will start at the Old Erie Canal parking area and walk two miles east toward Green Lakes State Park picking up trash along the way. You don't have to walk the entire way, but I hope to have a car to shuttle people back to the start if they choose to just walk one way. Although the trail is about a 1.5 terrain, there are steep drop off on both sides so I'm uping the terrain to equate with what we will actually be doing. (It could be higher terrain if it's raining and the hills are slick, so only go down as far as you feel comfortable.) Children are welcome, but should be under their parents' observation. Please don't let them go down the steeper slopes near the water! NOTE: the prizes I had ordered are not being shipped, so I hope that helping the parks, the smiley and the souvenir will be enough incentive to get folks to come out and participate.

I will no longer be able to shuttle people because of the virus. Please plan on doing a round trip hike, of the length that best suits your capabilities. The path is over 8' wide. Please wear a mask and bring your own bag and gloves so no one will have touched them besides you.
