Zuger Stadttürme
In der Stadt Zug gab es schon im 13. Jahrhundert eine Stadtmauer. Heute noch sichtbare Zeugen dieser Zeit sind der Zytturm, der ursprünglich als Gefängnis verwendete Chaibenturm und der Turm der Liebfrauenkapelle. Diese Stadtmauer wurde dann im 13. und 14. Jahrhundert um eine Zwingermauer erweitert.
Während der Jahre 1478 bis 1528 wurde um die stetig wachsende Stadt eine äussere Stadtmauer errichtet. Davon sind noch ein paar Mauerteile und vier Türme sichtbar: der Kapuzinerturm, der Knopfliturm, der Huwilerturm und der Pulverturm.
Diese Stadtbefestigungen mit den Türmen und Mauern sind auf einem Holzschnitt von Johannes Stumpf aus dem Jahre 1548 sichtbar (beim Listing als Hintergrundbild verwendet).
Es empfiehlt sich, den Stadtrundgang für die Adventure Lab-Caches mit anschliessendem Bonus beim Zytturm zu beginnen, dort befindet sich eine Informationstafel mit einem kurzen Abriss über die Geschichte der Zuger Altstadt und einer beschrifteten Version des Holzschnittes von Johannes Stumpf aus dem Jahre 1548 vom Verkehrsverein Stadt Zug.

The town towers of Zug
Already in the 13th century there was a fortification in Zug with towers and a wall. Today still visible are the clock tower "Zytturm", the former prison "Chaibentower" and the tower of the oldest church in the town "Liebfrauenkapelle". This fortification was extended in the 13th century by an additional wall.
During the years 1478 to 1528 a new outer wall with towers was constructed around the growing town. Today there are a few parts of the original wall as well as a few towers still existing: the Capuchin Tower "Kapuzinerturm", the Knopfli Tower "Knopfliturm", the Huwiler Tower "Huwilerturm" and the Powder Tower "Pulverturm".
