Geocache Description:

19 September 2020, 18:00 - 20:00

2020 marks the 20th Anniversary of Geocaching.  I also marks 10 years of Geocaching for me.  So why not have a celebration.....A Community Celebrationat that!!!

I was fortunate enough to be awarded a Community Celebration Event from Geocaching HQ, so why not have a party?

The First Geocache was hidden on May 3rd of 2000 in Oregon, United States by Dave Ulmer. Dave placed a 5 gallon bucket that contained Delorme Topo USA software, videos, books, food, money, and a slingshot! The geocache is not there anymore but Groundspeak has put a Plaque in honor of the orginal geocache. The GC code for the plaque is GCGV0P. How ever the Orginal Cache placed by Dave Ulmer is still on the website. The GC code for the orginal "stash cache' is GCF.

First cache Plaque

20 years later and the game has grown from 1 cache to over 3 million hides!!

My first hide wasn't as dramatic, but it is still memorable, and better yet it's still active as well...lol  "Woodbadge DeuxGC29VY2.  Hidden on June 6, 2010.

May 15, 2010 I found my very first Geocache, "Piglets Rest AwileGC1H9MF, when a local cacher took myself and our Cub Scout Pack out for a lesson in Geocaching, from there I was hooked!!  Some 4000 plus finds later and I still enjoy this game.  Still millions out there to find though...lol

I have picked my backyard as the location for this Community event.  I'll have the BBQ going serving snacks for everyone.  We'll be going rain or shine.  Enter the backyard from either side of the house, The left side will give you a paved path to follow.
