Geocache Description:

01 November 2020, 15:00 - 17:00

Wear your racing silks or put on your most glamourous fascinator or top hat - it's time for an afternoon at the races to celebrate 20 years of geocaching.

Where: National Rose Garden, Parkes - with ample parking available at the nearby John Gorton Building carpark.
(Note, this location has been chosen to allow for plenty of physical distancing during the event)

When: Sunday 1st November at 3pm (to conclude at 5pm)

What: The "races" will begin at approximately 3:15pm after a short briefing on the rules.  Everyone will be encouraged to participate and prizes will be awarded. A group photo will be taken mid-way through the event.

"Will attends" are important for "handicapping" purposes - please get them in as early as possible. In your "will attend" log please indicate:

  1. How many years you have been caching (of 20 years maximum possible).
For example, I started in May 2006, so have been caching for 14 of 20 years.
  2. The first geocache that you found (and indicate if it was interstate or overseas).
For example, my first find was Isaacs Incline by Tankengine.
  3. How you first found out about geocaching/who introduced you.
For example, I stumbled across the website when doing a google search on the height of Mt Taylor.
  4. Your first geocache finding tool/GPSr and what you use now (if different).
For example, mine was a yellow Garmin eTrex and now I mostly use my iPhone.
  5. How many (including 4 legged family members) normally cache under your caching name. Do not include family members who use a separate account.
For example, there are two people who cache under my account - although the Tealby B Team is even less active than me and is never seen at events!
  6. How many finds you currently have (in multiples of 500).
For example, I have over 4400 finds, but would round this down to 4000.
  7. Whether you have ever attended a previous Spring Racing Carnival event (especially the Melbourne Cup).
I have not, so you can expect this event will be completely different to anything you may have experienced previously...
