Community Celebration - Help the RGV Geocachers Celebrate Geocaching's 20th Birthday

Let's PARTY!!!  

March 20, 2021  -   1:45 - 4:15 pm

This world-wide scavenger hunt game was born on May 3, 2000 and turned 20 May 3, 2020. COVID delayed the party, but now it's time to celebrate!

Activities designed for ALL - From NEWBIE to Geo Pro

2 1/2 hour event at Bentsen Palm Community Park

Registration & Check-in: 1:45 – 2:00 pm

Activities: 2:00 – 4:00 pm (Birthday Cake, Raffle and Prizes 3:40 - 4:00)

Clean Up/Pack Up 4:00 - 4:15 pm

Participation guidelines based on COVID mandates as of February 12, 2021*

COVID Precautions will be followed per General CDC Event Guidelines as well as CDC Guidelines for Parks and Recreation Areas.  *Guidelines may change by March 2021

1. Wear Masks* whenever within 6' of another attendee
2. Wash Hands - Use Hand Sanitizer (will be available)
3. If sick, PLEASE, stay home
4. Hand sanitizer will be available at each Pavilion for your use.

*Effective 3/10/2021, the Texas Face Mask Mandate will be lifted; however, please respect each person's personal choice to wear or not to wear a face mask at this event.

Event Pavilions & Activities - 10 People per Pavilion at any one time

1. Pavilion #1: Registration – 1:45 – 2:00 and Newbie Training 2:00-2:30
   1. Sign Log and get Raffle Ticket
   2. Geocaching History, Icons and Terms Trivia Display Boards
   3. Refreshments - Individually wrapped Snacks, Bottled Water & Birthday Cake
   4. Newbies - Learn about Geocaching
2. Pavilions #2 & #3: Geocache Party Games
   1. Geo-Plinko (4 boards/2 per Pavilion)
   2. Geo-Concentration (4 sets/2 per Pavilion/2 players per game)
   3. Geo-Trivia w/Continuity Tester  (6 boards/3 per Pavilion)
   4. Score cards w/instructions - Prizes will be awarded
3. Pavilion #4: Build a Cache Workshop
   1. Sample Geocache Containers on Display - Bring YOUR Favorite Sample
   2. Create a container of your own
   3. Small Prizes for favorite sample caches.
4. Geocaching in and near the Park
   1. Many traditional caches in or near the park - Shared List of Nearest 19 Caches
   2. Battleship WheriGo cache in the park - team up to play - flags will be provided
5. Prizes, Raffle and Birthday Cake – 20 Minutes (3:40 – 4:00)
   1. All attendees regroup at Pavilion #1
   2. Social distancing and Masks required
   3. Birthday Cake & Raffle Drawing
   4. Grand Prize: 20th Anniversary Geocoin Set and more...
