Community Celebration Event: Cloquet, Minnesota
Come help celebrate 20 years of geocaching! Now in year 21. When awarded one of these Community Celebration Events, it was recommended that we pick a date that has some meaning for us. So I picked July 9. What is so special about July 9? Well, on July 9, 2003, I read an article about geocaching online. Sounded like a fun thing to do with the kids I work with, so I created my account. I believe my member number is about 141,704 or so. Now, over 25 million accounts have been set up for the game. I actually didn't find my first cache until July 14, 2004 as I had to convince my boss that this would be a fun activity. I also don't have some huge number of finds, but for me, it's the experience, the places, and the friendships that matter... not the numbers.
We will be at the open air pavillion at Pinehurst Park (601 Pinehurst Park Dr). There's a playground onsite for the little ones. And there is a river full of caches nearby. We will talk geocaching of course, maybe discover some new travel bugs, and you might even win a prize! Start your weekend off right with a CCE!!
