2020--The Last Antelope Roundup Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

sujojeepers: Well, it's time to let this one go. It was great seeing all the old friends. And meeting some new ones too.
A big thank you to all that attended. It's been a wild ride!
I said this one was the last one.
I meant it. It is the last "Annual Antelope Roundup".
I didn't say it was our last event at Antelope Lake.
Watch for "An Antelope Lake Reunion" event sometime near Memorial day next year.
No Poker Run, just a camping event, good friends getting together for some fun around, and, on the lake.
It's just in the planning stages, so let us know if it's something doable.

Thanks again for all the friendship, and support.

Geocache Description:

10 July 2020, 13:00 - 21:00

Welcome Geocachers,
to the
2020
Annual Antelope Roundup!

Antelope Lake
Plumas County, Ca.
July 10th-12th, 2020

This is a camping event that runs from

Friday to Sunday.

The event this year will be held at the family camping section of the

Long Point campground.

This year, we've reserved several lakeside sites!

The sites have numerous level tent areas,

and an awesome beach area that can be accessed from the sites.

For those interested in camping with us at these sites ,

there is room for up to six people at each site.

2 vehicles are allowed at each site, but to ease congestion,

please use the overflow parking area

between #29 & #31 as much as possible.

Check in time is 1:00 PM

At the time of publishing, there were a few other sites available at this campground,

and many at the Lone Rock Campground,

but many are by reservation only,

so don't delay!

Bring your kids, kayaks, and kamping gear!

FRIDAY

Get yourselves settled, and

After 6:00pm, come on by for a little "meet-n-greet" and strategize.

Stick around til after dusk to see a showing of a yet to be announced classic movie.

Free pizza, popcorn and lemonade will be provided.

Bring your own chairs.

SATURDAY

2020 Annual Antelope Roundup Geo-Poker Run.

Check in will be at 9am on Saturday July 11th at Long Point Campground site # 29

All participants in the poker run will be required to sign a liability waiver.

When you check in, you will be given an official scorecard with all the necessary coordinates and playing instructions. There will be only one scorecard issued per geocaching ID and only one ID per person. Once all players have turned in their waivers and received their scorecards we will go over the rules and instructions before turning you loose in the forest!
Special tools or equipment may or may not be required to retrieve some of the caches. Come prepared with whatever you think you may need. No hints will be given except those that may be on the score card! A study of the area's roads before coming would be a big help!

You will need to finish caching and return to Long Point site #29 by 7pm, where you will turn in your scorecard with the necessary proof of finds from the day.

You will then draw your five card poker hand from a freshly shuffled deck and use any discards you may have earned.

Note to smartphone users!

There is little to no cell service in the area! Make sure it's smart enough before you leave the valley!

There’s plenty of fun to be had and plenty of caches already in the area,
You do not have to participate in the poker run to attend the event!

After the Poker Run, there will be a potluck BBQ and raffle back at site #29 at the Long point campground.

SUNDAY

For those that want to stick around there will be the;

Yaks & Antelope Paddle Brunch.

After that hectic day on Saturday, we thought a relaxing paddle, and Brunch at campsite #29 would be just the ticket.

Meet us at Long Point Campground, site #29, at 10:00 am.

We'll provide the grill, and a few food items for brunch.

Bring any food you'd like to add with you.

We don't expect too many as it's Sunday and most will be heading home, so we'll wrap up this get together at noon.
