St Mary and St Modwen is the Roman Catholic Church in the town centre of Burton-upon-Trent which is part of the Archdiocese of Birmingham. While the current parish church was built in 1879 the historic links of the parish go back to its patron, St Modwen, who founded a church in the town in the 7th Century.
Visitors to Burton and to the parish find Modwen (or Modwenna as she is also known as) an unusual name, a saint that they have never heard of before. You can read more about her on the church website Information on Modwen
The cache is a small phial and is not on the church premises, you do not need to leave the pavement to find it. It will be a stretch for many (including the CO!), hence the terrain rating. Please replace carefully and watch out for muggles at all times and take care with geokids/geopets as this is a very busy road. The cache may be possible as a park and grab at some times, otherwise parking is available nearby. You must retrieve and sign the log to claim a find, only seeing the container is not sufficient.
