Geocache Description:

Peacefully serving, with dignity and respect, the generations at eternal rest and those who watch over them.

In 1898, William Lantermann (Trustee of Morton County) granted 25 acres to the Union Cemetery Association. Another 40 acres were surveyed and platted. A group of men who formed the Association established the Mandan Union Cemetery. Two cemeteries had formerly been used one northwest of the Heartview Foundation Center and the other named Greenwood, located two or three miles south of the city along Ft. McKeen road. Many of the burials in these locations were relocated in the new Mandan Union Cemetery. In 1938, the City of Mandan took over the operation of the cemetery granting 15 acres to the Catholic section and 25 acres to the Protestant Section. Today, spaces are available to anybody who wishes the Mandan Union Cemetery to be a final resting place.

Be respectful of the area, and pass on the find if there is a service in progress or if someone is maintaining the area. This cache is placed with utmost respect for the area.  Small swag may fit.

NDSQ = North Dakota Spirit Quest, this is a heading used on many caches that deal with cemeteries.
