• O Uruguai é um dos países latino-americanos que não produz café porque o clima é muito frio para isso.

• No entanto, o país tem uma longa tradição cafeeira.

• O Café Brasilero foi fundado em Montevidéu em 1877 e é o mais antigo da cidade.

• Até alguns anos atrás, o café nos cafés era de grãos de baixa qualidade e, devido à influência espanhola, o café Torrefacto - grãos torrados com açúcar.

• Enquanto isso, nota-se também a influência positiva da terceira onda de café no Uruguai.
