The war memorial in the small Fenland village of Coveney, Cambridgeshire, is a wooden lychgate at the entrance to the parish church of St Peter ad Vincula . On one side of the frame of the gate is a panel on which are recorded the names of the men of the village who lost their lives in the WW1, one of whom is buried in the churchyard. On the other side of the entrance is a wooden statue of St Peter. The memorial has a wooden roof surmounted by a cross. There is no mention of any villagers losing their life during WW2.
Inside the Church is a memorial in memory of the crews of 2 Lancaster bombers of the 115 squadron based at nearby Witchford, which were shot down returning to base after a bombing attack on Rouen. The planes crashed near Coveney only a mile from their base. Of particular interest to us is the name of Alfred Frank Langridge, Mr EPPs fathers cousin. There is a War Memorial to 115 squadron see WM 290 and a small museum at N 52 22 944 E 000 13 285 open 10-4 monday to friday
