Célébrons les 20 ans du géocaching ensemble !
C'est quoi le geocaching ?
Le geocaching est un loisir de chasse au trésor techno où les pelles, les bateaux de pirate et les cartes en papier ont été remplacés (en 2020) par des GPS, des lampes UV, des pinces (mais aussi parfois la pelle peut être utile en hiver). Le contenant recherché n'est plus un gros coffre rempli de bijoux enfoui sous la terre ou dans le sable. Le geocacheur est alors à la recherche d'un contenant étanche suspendu aux arbres ou déposé à terre dans lequel un morceau de papier ou un carnet sera signé par les trouveurs et contenant toutes sortes d'objets ou de jouets faisant le plaisir des petits et des grands aussi.
Un peu d'histoire
Ce n'est qu'à partir du 1er mai 2000 que le géocaching n'est devenu techniquement possible avec la suspension de la degradation des signaux venant des satellites autour de la Terre. La première cache localisée par un GPS et documentée fut placée le 3 mai 2000 par Dave Ulmer dans l'Oregon. Les coordonnées furent publiées sur le groupe Usenet sci.geo.satellite-nav. En septembre 2000, Jeremy Irish, Elias Alvord et Bryan Roth fondent à Seattle la société Groundspeak, qui gère notamment le site web Geocaching.com, listant en 2017, 3 millions de géocaches actives à travers le monde.
Actuellement, dans le monde, vous pouvez trouver des geocaches dans plus de 200 pays, rencontrez plus de 361 000 propriétaires de caches et l'application de geocaching est traduite dans 20 langues.
Festivités
C'est avec un grand plaisir que j'ai été choisi pour tenir un événement en l'honneur des 20 ans du geocaching parmi les 20200 evenements qui se dérouleront dans le monde en cette année 2020.
Le Canada est ma terre d'accueil et c'est dans ce pays que j'ai découvert le geocaching en randonnant et en contemplant la Nature. Allongée sur les roches bordant le fleuve St-Laurent, j'ai découvert ma première cache (GC) et c'est en Nature que l'aventure a commencé.
Le géocaching étant une activité sociale de découverte et de plein air, je vous propose donc de celebrer ensemble dans le magnifique parc bordé par la rivière des Outaouais, à savoir le Parc des Cèdres.
En participant à l'événement vous pourrez gagner un souvenir spécial, très spécial, un icone disponible tous les 10 ans !
Lieu : Parc des Cèdres, Aylmer
Le parc possède des tables à pique-nique, une plage, des toilettes publiques, de l'ombrage et un peu de stationnement proche. Deux coordonnées sont ajoutées pour plus de stationnements.
Date : Lundi 7 septembre 2020. Date du long congé de la fête du travail qui célèbre la fin de l'été et le presque début de l'automne. En gros, ma période préférée pour geocacher sans les moustiques, la chaleur écrasante et les doigts congelés pour ouvrir les petites nano geocaches...
De que c'est : *UPDATE * Un pique-nique au Parc des Cèdres. Le partage de nourriture ne sera pas encouragé. N'oubliez pas de préciser dans votre "will attend" ou avec un "write note" ultérieur le nombre de personnes présentes.

Informations Pratiques :
- Pensez bien à enregistrer votre participation en loguant un "Will attend" et à mettre l'évent en suivi pour être tenu au courant des informations et des changements éventuels (notamment en cas de mauvais temps).
- Après l'événement, Faites un log "Attended" (j'ai participé) sur la page de l'event avec le récit de votre expérience et vous recevrez un souvenir rare !

What's geocaching?
Geocaching is a techno treasure hunt where shovels, pirate boats and paper maps have been replaced (in 2020) by GPS, UV lamp and tweezers (but sometimes the shovel can be useful in winter). The hidden container is no longer a large chest buried under the ground or sand. The geocacher is now looking for a watertight container suspended in a tree or placed on the ground in which a piece of paper or a notebook will be signed by the finders and containing all sorts of objects or toys that will please young and old as well.
A bit of history
It is only since May 1st, 2000 that geocaching became technically possible with the suspension of signal degradation from satellites around the Earth. The first GPS-located and documented cache was placed on May 3, 2000 by Dave Ulmer in Oregon. The coordinates were published on the Usenet group sci.geo.satellite-nav. here the video of this geocache.
In September 2000, Jeremy Irish, Elias Alvord and Bryan Roth founded the Groundspeak company in Seattle, which manages the Geocaching.com website, listing 3 million active geocaches worldwide in 2017.
Currently, around the world, you can find geocaches in over 200 countries, meet over 361,000 cache owners and the geocaching application is translated into 20 languages.
Festivities
It is with great pleasure that I have been chosen to hold an event in honour of 20 years of geocaching among the 20,200 events that will take place around the world in the year 2020.
Canada is my host country and it is in this country that I discovered geocaching while hiking and contemplating Nature. Lying on the rocks along the St. Lawrence River, I discovered my first cache (GC) and it is in Nature that the adventure began.
I therefore propose to celebrate together in the magnificent park bordering the Ottawa River, namely Le Parc des Cèdres. As geocaching is a social activity of discovery and outdoor activities, I propose a program of sharing and discovery.
By participating in the event you can win a special souvenir, a very special one, an icon available every 10 years!
Location: Le Parc des Cèdres, Aylmer
The park has picnic tables, a beach, shade and some parking nearby. Two coordinates are added for more parking.

What : *UPDATE * A picnic aux Parc des Cèdres. Food sharing will not be encouraged. Do not forget to specify in your "will attend" or with a later "write note" the number of people present.

Community Celebration Events - 2020
Cet Événement fait partie d'une version limitée des Événements de Célébration Communautaire créés pour célébrer les 20 ans du géocaching. Des géocacheurs choisis au hasard par Geocaching HQ ont organisé ces événements entre le 2 mai 2020 et le 31 décembre 2020. Apprenez-en plus sur les Événements de Célébration Communautaire sur le blogue Geocaching.
Ces Événements particuliers permettront aux géocacheurs du monde entier de commémorer le 20e anniversaire de Géocaching avec une icône et un souvenir spéciaux.
Ce type de cache était à l'origine connu sous le nom de Lost and Found Event Cache. Il avait été créé pour des événements organisés par des géocacheurs du 30 avril 2010 au 3 mai 2010 pour célébrer le 10e anniversaire du géocaching. Seulement 362 Lost and Found Events ont eu lieu, donc un nombre très limité de géocacheurs ont gagné l'icône. Nous sommes ravis que plusieurs milliers de géocacheurs supplémentaires aient la chance de célébrer un grand anniversaire et d'obtenir ainsi l'icône redessinée en 2020!
This Event is part of a limited release of Community Celebration Events to celebrate 20 years of geocaching. Geocachers randomly selected by Geocaching HQ hosted events between May 2, 2020 and December 31, 2020. Learn more about Community Celebration Events on the Geocaching Blog.
These events will enable cachers around the world to commemorate the 20th anniversary of geocaching with a special icon and souvenir.
This cache type was originally known as the Lost and Found Event Cache. It was created for events that were hosted by geocachers from April 30, 2010 to May 3, 2010 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of geocaching. Just 362 Lost and Found Events were held, so a very limited number of cachers earned the icon. We’re excited that many thousands more cachers will have a chance to celebrate a big anniversary and get the redesigned icon in 2020!
