***PANDEMIC NOTES***

Please bring a lawn chair or blanket for the ground to sit on.  I've downsized the event so if you want to cook your own food over the fire that is up to you - based on availability - (due to the pandemic I've not been able to rebook the site - however parks are open)  We are near the 50 people max at this point.  Let's hope the weather holds!

PARKING:  There is free parking however it will be midday - Saturday in June - Unless the weather is bad, I expect limited parking options. Bike if you can or you may need to park further away and walk in.

In accordance with Alberta Health Services. We can be no larger than a 50 Person group. 2 meter social distancing needs to be adhered to. I feel wearing a mask for this would be appropriate.  None of the games/ food served/cake will be shared. It's lunch time - bring your own.

Intiniary of time (ish) will follow so stay tuned for more formalized details!

The History:

On May 2nd, 2000, the US Government, under an order from the White House, switched off GPS "selective availability" for non-military GPS. This immediately improved GPS accuracy to within a few meters.

The next day, on May 3rd, Dave Ulmer hid a black bucket near a road in the forest outside of Beavercreek, Oregon (near Portland)  and posted the GPS coordinates on the internet - the sport of geocaching was born. This geocache became known as "The Original Stash" with the GC code "GCF".

2020:

We celebrate the 20th anniversary of geocaching with this great community celebration event!
