'De oude stroentbult' Nederlands:
Waarom het bos hier op een heuvel staat?
Het klinkt misschien een beetje gek maar de voormalige vuilstortplaats wordt in de volksmond 'de oude stroentbult' genoemd. Toen de pyramideweg nog Topweg heette, was dat echt nog een landweg met daaraan gelegen het dierenasiel en een aantal boerderijtjes. Waar vroeger de staart begon was de stroentbult waar het afval van de gemeente Urk los gestort werd.De vuilstort werd ook destijds door inwoners van Urk gebruikt voor huishoudelijk afval. Urker school kinderen zwierven daar vaak, vooral op woensdagmiddag, en als de vuilniswagen zijn lading had gelost, zwermden er tientallen kinderen omheen om de inhoud te Onderzoeken. Vuilniszakken werden opengetrokken, want wie weet zat er wat moois bij!
Dries Fikkert was de toezichthouder en je moest het wel heel bont maken wilde je met hem aan de stok krijgen. Vuurtje stoken mocht niet, want dan had je kans dat de hele stroentbult in de brand stond. dan trokken verstikkende rookwolken over het dorp en moest de brandweer in actie komen. Maar ook aalgrommen van de rokerijen werden daar met kuipen vol gedeponeerd en slachtafval van de lokale slagers hier op Urk. Je kon er grijnzende koeiekoppen tegenkomen, met darmen en magen. Het terrein was dus echt als je het zo bekijkt een grote grijze container waar echt van alles ingegooid! Daarna is de afvallaag met grond bedekt. Het beboste heuveltje dat is overgebleven wordt gebruikt om te wandelen of te fietsen. En in de winter als het sneeuwt sleeen de kinderen van de grote heuvels af!

Why the forest is on a hill here?:
It may sound a bit strange, but the former landfill site is popularly called 'the old straw bump'. When the pyramid road was still called Topweg, it was really a country road with the animal shelter and a number of small farms situated on it. Where once the tail began was the shit hump where the waste from the municipality of Urk was dumped loose. The waste dump was also used by residents of Urk for household waste. Urk school children often roamed there, especially on Wednesday afternoons, and when the garbage truck had unloaded its load, dozens of children swarmed around to examine the contents. Garbage bags were pulled open, because who knows there was something nice about it!
Dries Fikkert was the supervisor and you had to make it really furry if you wanted to get to work with him. Making fires was not allowed, because then you had the chance that the whole shit was on fire. When this happened, suffocating clouds of smoke crossed the village and the fire brigade had to take action. But also eels from the smokehouses were deposited there with tubs full and offal from the local butchers here on Urk. You could come across grinning cow heads, with intestines and stomachs. The terrain was really like that if you look at it this way, a large gray container where everything was really thrown in! The waste layer is then covered with soil. The wooded hill that remains is used for walking or cycling. And in the winter when it snows, the children will drag off the big hills!
