Geocache Description:


This cache commemorates Harston station which was opened on 1 April 1852, and closed to passengers on 17 June 1963. Only a small part of the former southbound platform remains in situ but otherwise all remains of the station have gone. The Cambridge Line, which formerly served the station, remains an increasingly busy commuter line and vehicles regularly have to stop at the gates when trains go through. Harston station was a stop between Cambridge and Foxton stations. This old image shows Harston station in its heyday in 1935:
