This is my first cache which I have placed carefully at a location I walk my dog everyday so I know it should be safe from prying eyes.
Thwaite is an old Northern name for a clearing in a wood where people settled. It is often preceded by another word such as Gunthwaite, Micklethwaite and our local town Slaithwaite (though locals call it Slawit) and can be used to describe the area better. My own name is Thistlethwaite which means a clearing in a wood full of thistles, which I always thought was a strange place to settle down and raise a family !
So my cache is called Bramblethwaite as its in an area in the wood where there are many blackberry bushes, but don't worry - you don't need to hack your way through them for this one.
The spot itself offers lovely views over the valley and if you come here in late summer the bushes will be abundant with fruit so I have included in the cache a recipe for Blackberry Crumble.
The cache itself is a plastic screw top jar - please replace it as found
Thank you
