Deze geocacheroute begint aan de rand van de nieuwe woonwijk Harener Holt en eindigt in het archeologisch wandelpark bij De Vork in Haren, dat is vernoemd naar de splitsing tussen de sporen richting Assen en Winschoten.
Je hebt mooie vergezichten richting de stad Groningen en over het platteland. Je kunt hier rondwandelen en vogels bekijken en zomers staat het vol met wilde bloemen zoals o.a. klaprozen en kamille. Vlakbij wordt het nieuwe opstelterrein van de NS gebouwd, in de splitsing van de spoorlijnen vanuit Groningen naar Nieuweschans en naar Assen. Door graafwerkzaamheden daar, zijn er archeologische vondsten gedaan en zo zijn restanten van o.a. een boerderij uit de IJzertijd gevonden. Informatie hierover is in het park te vinden en er is een skelet van zo'n boerderij nagebouwd.
De cacheroute van begin tot eind (en terug naar P) is ongeveer 2,5km
LET OP: WP1 + vraag1 staat in de app (onbedoeld) helemaal onderaan. Belangrijk om deze bij de start niet te vergeten!!
Parkeren kan op de aangegeven coördinaten, en beter NIET aan de Noorderzanddijk i.v.m. landbouwverkeer.
De route is met de fiets begaanbaar tot de ingang van het wandelpark, daarna zijn een aantal waypoints alleen wandelend te bereiken.

Cache: De Vork: This geocache route starts on the edge of the new residential area Harener Holt and ends in the archaeological walking park at De Vork in Haren. You have beautiful views towards the city of Groningen and across the countryside. You can walk around and watch birds and in the summer it is full of wild flowers such as poppies and chamomile. The new NS site is being built nearby, in the junction of the rail lines from Groningen to Nieuweschans and to Assen.
Due to excavation work there, archaeological finds have been made and thus remains of an Iron Age farm have been found. Information about this can be found in the park and a skeleton of such a farm has been recreated.
The cache route from start to finish (and back to P) is approximately 2.5 km
Attention: WP1 + question1 is (unintentionally) at the bottom of the app. Important not to forget this one at the start !!
Parking is possible at the indicated coordinates, and better NOT at Noorderzanddijk because of agricultural traffic.
You can do this route by foot (or by bike until the entrance of the park, a few waypoints can only be reached walking).
