On September 17, 1918, during the particularly vicious battle of Meuse-Argonne in WW1, Private Fred C. Wagner from Rolla, ND, twice went out into "No Man's Land" to rescue wounded comrades. On his third attempt to help yet another fallen American soldier, he was killed in action.
The Rolla American Legion is honored to bear the title of "Fred C. Wagner Post #235" and to keep alive the memory of his selfless service to his country and to his fellow soldiers.
