Please do not attempt this cache at night, there is an historic church and several houses nearby and I don't want you to look suspicious!
I was cycling around East Devon and parked the bike at a nearby church to scout for a location to hide a Church Micro cache. Whilst doing so I crossed this great little bridge and thought I would place a cache to encourage you to visit. There are steps on either side so unfortunately this one cannot be accessed with wheels.
This is an offset multi in which you need to obtain some information from the bridge to work out the location of the cache. You can assume N 50 46.xxx and W 003 17.yyy
Start at the side of the bridge nearest the church:
- If there are 7 steps the northings are 016
- If there are 8 steps the northings are 142
- If there are 9 steps the northings are 264
Now go to the other side whilst feeling the bridge bounce a bit
- If there are 7 steps the westings are 901
- If there are 8 steps the westings are 936
- If there are 9 steps the westings are 985
You only need to count the treads on the bridge itself, do not include anything at ground level or on the deck of the bridge. The cache is a clip lock box placed less than 5 minutes walk away.
The Little Bridges series was started by Stanthews in 2009 to highlight small footbridges in remote parts of Wiltshire. Since then the series has been expanded by others all over the country and starting to spread fast. There is a stats listing run by Billiethecat, so you can see how many Little Bridges you have found, you can find it here:- https://littlebridgesseries.wordpress.com/ . If you would like to add to the series, please contact Stan on stanthews@aol.com and he will give you a number for your bridge, to qualify, the bridge must be a foot bridge too small for vehicles, please make sure your title exactly matches "Little Bridges # xxxx then the name" including spaces so it will get picked up and added to stats list.
