Gather your inflatables, SUPs, tubes, and other 'floaty' things for a little float down the Elbow.
We will meet Wednesday, September 4th, at 7:00 pm at Stanley Park, after floating down the Elbow River from Sandy Beach.
At 7:25 pm we will take a group photo at Stanley Park.
At 7:30 pm we will car pool to the parking lot at Sandy Beach if needed.
For those who will float there, it takes 30-45 minutes from the Sandy Beach put-in.
Please see the waypoints for parking locations and where to put-in and take-out.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Each person must wear a properly-fitting life jacket or personal flotation device. (City by-law)
- A sound-signaling device (whistle, air-horn, bell)
- A paddle
- A rope that floats (e.g. polypropylene) for rescue or to pull your craft to safety
- A bailing device for sit-in crafts
PLEASE NOTE: If the water level is low, it will probably not be suitable for canoes or kayaks, unless they have a very low draft, and pool inflatables might not be durable enough for the gravel river bed.
For those who wish to bike there, the Elbow River pathway goes right by both locations.
