About SideTracked Caches
This geocache belongs to the SideTracked series that is popular in the UK and throughout the world. The first cache was placed on the 10th August, 2007, and is now spreading around the world. It is designed to be a relatively quick cache find around train stations for travellers but, of course, anyone else can find it too! With the opening of the new Metro line this final stop deserves a cache. The best way to reach this cache is by using the new Metro rail to Tallawong, the end of the line.There is parking near the station but rumour has it is that it is usually full by 7am. There are several 30min parking spots at the station entrance which may be useful.
Walk along Themeda Avenue to the cache where you will get a different perspective of the new rail system.
About Tallawong Station
The word Tallawong is from the Dharug Aboriginal language and means ‘apple gum tree’.
The area was only chosen as a station location in 2012 with a future corridor heading west towards the developing suburbs around Marsden Park being suggested. It was originally to be known as Cudgegong Road but the name Tallawong was suggested in December 2017 and officially renamed by The Geographical Names Board in April 2018.
The station is located near the intersection of Cudgegong and Schofields Roads, Rouse Hill. It is the current terminus of the North West Metro line from Chatswood. The station has an island platform with a line either side. There is no timetable but trains run approximately every 6 minutes at present.
