Welcome to SideTracked Lanyon Place!
Lanyon Place station was originally called ‘Central Station’. The name changed in February 2018 due to people saying it wasn’t very central to Belfast!!! (Which is true). After hearing this, Translink decided to change the major station’s name to Lanyon Place. However if you ask a local to the area about where Lanyon Place station is, they most likely won’t have a clue. Most still think it is called Central!
This cache is located near the centre of Belfast, there are various ways of getting to GZ. The main way is by train, of course! Trains to this location come from Derry/Londonderry, Bangor, Portadown, Newry, Portrush, Larne & Dublin. There are various metro buses from the city that will leave you here, the main two being the 6A and the glider G1. Ulsterbuses also come from Newtownards and Bangor. Car parking is located in the street behind GZ (please don’t park in the bus lane, they closely monitor it and issue fines at this location). Also, this location is accessible by Belfast Bikes, a docking station is situated close-by.
The cache container itself is very unique, some have told me it could possibly be the first of its kind in the country! So we keep this cache a challenge, I ask you not to post a picture of the container on the cache page, I will delete it. The rule of ‘No Sign, No Find’ is strictly enforced at this location.
This cache is part of the SideTracked series, they are designed as quick cache and dashes for public transport users. Anyone can add to the series, see https://www.sidetrackedseries.info/ for more infomation.
Finally, Happy Caching.
