The Kroket
A small multi-cache to introduce you to the Kroket.
The Kroket is a deep fried roll of thick ragout inside of a crust composed of egg, flour and breadcrumbs.
The recipe for the Kroket came to The Netherlands halfway the 19th century, presumably from France. It was not yet considered as a snack, but more of a side dish.
In the late 40s and early 50s, the Kroket became more and more a snack.
Today there isn’t a snack bar that doesn’t offer the Kroket on their menu.
In recent years a multitude of Kroket varieties have been invented. Among these varieties are the beef kroket, veal Kroket, goulash Kroket, saté Kroket and cheese Kroket.
The Kroket is generally enjoyed at a snack bar, but there are many options available to prepare them at home.
The cache
In order to find coordinates of the cache, you will need to pass by several waypoints.
Waypoint 1. This is a Dutch snack bar chain. Here you can pull a Kroket from an automated “wall dispenser”.

Waypoint 2. This American fast-food chain only sells the modified Kroket in their restaurants located in The Netherlands, Belgium and Curaçao. In all other countries you will unfortunately not find the Kroket.

Waypoint 3. This sandwich shop opened in Amsterdam in 1945 and is "world famous" in Amsterdam for its “Croquette sandwich”. At this establishment a Kroket is called a “Croquet”.
