Geocache Description:

Please be respectful of the historic area around the cache, as nothing needs to be disturbed to find it.  Please be aware that the train tracks are active, the cache is located on the opposite side of the building AWAY from the tracks. Cache placed with the permission of the Long-a-Coming Historical Society.

You are standing by the oldest train station in New Jersey that is still standing, built way back in 1856.  It was active for over 100 years before closing for business.  The historical society restored it in the mid-1990s, and it currently serves as their headquarters and museum.

This is not the first transportation type that made a stop in Berlin.  The town was originally known as "Long-a-Coming" and was on the stage coach route between the Delaware River and the shore.  The railroad named their station "Berlin" in 1867, and the town had been known by that name ever since!

This is our first hide, my 7 and 5 year old are very excited!
