There were soooooo many of these rural schools in North Dakota. All that remains of this colorful history in the education of students prior to 1960's are a few of these schoolhouses still standing. This shool Colgrove District 2 was one of many in Hettinger County. We all know the responsibilities of the teachers were numerous and the pay minimal. When these schools no longer educated students, they still served as voting stations for residents of the townships for quite a few years . Eventually that too changed and the schools became useless and many were bought and moved to farmsteads for buildings or just left to weather and fall.
The cache hidden here is not on the school building itself but in an area just outside of the school yard.
