Please Note Directions to the Event. I know you can all navigate; however even the emergency services have been known to get it wrong and a wrong turning causes problems.
The event is being held at the Glycornel Archery Centre, home of Pentref Bowmen Archery Club. Pentref Bowmen have very kindly allowed us to use their clubhouse, and we are extremely grateful to them.
This event is being held to celebrate the 12th anniversary of the SideTracked series, which started at Evesham station in 2007.
Directions from Llwynypia station:
At the nearby traffic lights, take the B4223 (Nantgwyddon Road, signposted to Treorchy), and almost immediately (around 100 yds) take the narrow turning on the left and, keeping to the left, go up the hill.
Do not drive into Glyncornel Close! The road ends in a dead end and there is nowhere to turn round.
At the top of the hill, turn right and down a short slope into a car parking area. Able-bodied people should leave cars here and walk up the slope to the clubhouse. There is space at the top of the slope for three or four cars for the less able.
The Clubhouse is completely accessible, with step-free access and an accessible toilet.
Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be available for a small fee to help cover costs.
Crockery and cutlery are available too, so if you want to bring your own food for a picnic please feel free.
Dogs and children will be made welcome, and the surrounding Glycornel Woods will be open for walks, games, whatever.
The nearest geocache to the clubhouse is The Rocky Road GC23YQB. Please note that although I believe the cache to be in place, the ground around it is unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues. It's rather muddy, and very uneven.
SideTracked caches are hidden near most of the stations on the route from Treherbert to Cardiff Queen Street. There are also REALLY SideTracked caches at Blaenrhondda (beyond Treherbert) and Pontypridd Tram Road (a few minutes' walk from Pontypridd station).
