Before highways, there were trails, and the original cross-county roadway, Red Trail, became US Highway 10 in 1925. The Old Red Old Ten Trail is designated as the 10th North Dakota State Scenic Byway which is a great alternative to I-94 between Mandan and Dickinson, ND.
This series of caches will bring you close to the Talking Trail points along this beautiful Scenic Byway. You will be able to experience how life was long ago on the Old Red Old Ten Scenic Byway. Find diverse culture, natural beauty, a preservation of simpler times, and a variety of recreational opportunities waiting for you. From the spectacular views of the buttes, river valleys and prairie, to the intriguing historic buildings and museums, visitors will be captivated as they make their way through western North Dakota.
Please bring your own pen, park off the main road, use caution while hunting for the cache and replace exactly as found.
This location is a part of the Old Red Old Ten Scenic Byway Talking Trail. If you are driving along the Byway call 701-566-5566 and the Extension Number of the Talking Trail site that you wish to listen to. This site is extension 304 & 305. Since there is already a cache close to the Talking Trail signs, I chose a fun location that will bring you by the two signs in Sims. No need to go instide of the building. Cache is reachable from outside.
