Geocache Description:

It is Amazing how many treasures are all around us that we are unaware of.

The Trail of the Whispering Giants is a collection of sculptures by Hungarian-born artist Peter “Wolf” Toth.  Peter created his first out of stone in 1972, in California.  After this first sculpture, he switched to wood and decided to donate a sculpture to each of the U.S. states and Canadian provinces.  At last count 74 Whispering Giants had been created.   The sculptures range from 15 to 40 feet in height and all resemble natives of the region in which they are located. At least 12 of the sculptures are now missing or destroyed since they were placed.

The North Dakota sculpture, #39 was done in August of 1981.  It was placed in Mandan on the corner of 6th Avenue and 3rd Street.  It is 25 feet tall and made out of a Cottonwood.
