Silicon Forest Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

GeoCrater: I am regretfully archiving this cache.

The following note was attached to this cache back in 2003:

[i] This is now a VIRTUAL cache - no cache container exists at the final coordinates

This cache was approved as a physical cache and needs to stay a physical cache. Either work with the Parks Dept to find a suitable location for the final, or move the final out of the Dept's juristiction.

I sincerely hope you can work with the Parks Dept to find a solution that is suitable to all.

Once the physical cache is moved/replaced, please email me and I will be more than happy to unarchive this cache....

Thank you for your understanding!

Geocache Description:

A Dodeca(12) Waypoint Geocache located within Tualatin Hills Nature Park, amidst
surrounding high-tech businesses which reside in Silicon (aka 'Tech') Forest.

NOTE: Tualitin Valley Parks and Recreation rangers pulled this and other caches within their parks while they decide on a policy for geocaching within their district. I had a productive conversation with some of them when I went to retrieve this cache. They are not against geocaching, but they would like to have input on where they are located and how many to allow to avoid the potential for destruction of sensitive areas. Hence...

This is now a VIRTUAL cache - no cache container exists at the final coordinates.
Email me the final coordinates for verification.

How well do you know your GPS? This cache tests one's abilities in using a GPS to it's fullest extent. It leads seekers through various points of interest within the park and requires a bit of brainpower to decipher the clues and calculate the answers. Plan on spending a few hours gathering clues to locate the cache.

Visit each waypoint listed in any order you desire. Record the answer to each question. Once you have all the required values, compute the equations to determine the intermediary waypoint. Once at the intermediary waypoint, answer the questions and perform the necessary calculation to determine the cache location.

Trails vary from paved to woodchips to dirt. Low spots may be muddy but sneakers are fine. There are many sensitive areas so please stay on the trails until approaching the final cache location. Only the final cache waypoint is off the trail, but is not in a sensitive area.

NO BUSHWHACKING REQUIRED at any point in this search.

Note 1: All coordinate values use the format DD MM.MMM
(only 3 decimal places).
Note 2: Pad numbers with leading 0's whenever appropriate.
Note 3: Some listed coordinates may apply to multiple questions.
Note 4: The coordinates listed are not necessarily in order so you'd be wise to plan your route before beginning your search.
Note 5: Park closes at dark. Start early.
Note 6: Wear comfortable shoes.
Note 7: Due to the abundance of wildlife, dogs are unfortunately not permitted in the park.
