About Cemetery Station No 2
This is the close to the site of the second of four platforms on the rail line through Rookwood Cemetery. The reference site marks the location, close to the road. The cache is located here as it disappeared several time near the road.
The station opened as Roman Catholic Platform on 31 December 1901. The name was changed to Cemetery Station No. 2 on 15 June 1908. The station was closed on 29 December 1948. Wikipedia
If you have visited GC7YCX0C REALLY SideTracked – Cemetery Station No1 Rookwood, you will have learned something about the history of the Mortuary Railway to Rookwood Cemetery. In 1901 the line was expanded to the Catholic section of the cemetery. The platform was not grand and had a timber shelter. .
The station was closed on 29 December 1948.
