Welcome and congratulations! At -420 meters below sea level, this is one of the only caches that will GUARANTEE you the Diamond 'head in the ground badge' on BadgeGen (not all the Dead Sea caches do this).
Firstly, let me give you some tips before you arrive at GZ!
As beautiful and as touristic as this place is, do not forget that you're in the middle of the desert and this can be an unpredictable and unforgiving environment.
Take this advice and you'll have a great time or ignore it at your own risk
○MOST IMPORTANTLY! stick to the trails!! Please stay on the trail, do not attempt to climb over the barriers, wires, gates etc... these are there for your own safety as there are sinkholes (quicksand) here that can, and will swallow you up!
○Bring water/sunscreen/hat! dehydration sucks, they say drink 1 litre per hour in this area, just be responsible.
○Remove jewellery, you're in an area with sulphur around and it will turn your jewellery black (the showers that smell like rotten eggs are recommended after a mud session, you'll get that baby skin!) *If it's too late, you can scrub it with toothpaste, it's just a pain in the ... to remove.
○When you approach the water, do it with caution, depending on where you go in from, I recommend you do this with flip flops as the ground can be sharp/slippery with salt crystals, do not jump into it! You do not want this water in your eyes or anyone else's for that matter.
○If you have fresh cuts/wounds be prepared, this is gonna sting...a lot!
○Finally.... Snakes/Scorpions etc... In case you decide to venture off into the wilderness just remember,before anything else, this is their home. please be careful.
Sit back, relax and float like you're taking a bath on the moon!
Don't forget this may be a once in a lifetime experience as sadly it won't be here forever.
Every year the dead sea is shrinking more and more as you will be able to see from the signs approaching the water.
If you want more information on this, I highly recommend the earthcaches here they'll give you a great insight as to why this is happening, plus a few extra smileys.
There should be tubs filled with dead sea mud here that you can just put on yourself depending when you arrive (free) don't fall for the tourist traps and buy those chemically processed sachets!
The sulphur showers are awesome but remember to remove jewellery!!!
And of course... Relax
You have 2 main options going from here, I would highly recommend both but depending on how long you are here for you can either do Ein Gedi which is an awesome waterfall and nature reserve really close to here or take the cable car to the top of the ancient fortress of Masada which is further south but also in the dead sea region for a view that cannot be forgotten. Both of these activities would be considered 'musts' if you're in the area!
oh and the Lot's Wife cache is awesome if you know the old story!

TO LOG THIS CACHE:
1: Get to N 31° 24.956' E 35° 25.375' - As you enter the car park from the main road you will see the sign saying 'lowest place on earth' in 3 languages, take a pic of yourself with your head in the ground (or close to it)next to the sign.
2: post a pic of you or a thumbs up floating on the dead sea. (I wanted to make this cache available for all so if you cannot enter the water for whatever reason, I will allow the first pic to be enough.
