Das Opernhaus Zürich liegt beim Sechseläutenplatz wo alljährlich das traditionelle Zürcher Zunftfest sattfindet. Bis 1964 wurde das Gebäude Stadttheater genannt, seither Opernhaus; es wurde am 1. Oktober 1891 mit einer Aufführung von Wagners Lohengrin eröffnet und bietet Platz für 1100 Personen.
Das Bauwerk war ursprünglich eigentlich für Krakau geplant, wurde dort aber nie realisiert, dafür aber in Zürich im Eiltempo errichtet. Das Gebäude, welches Stilelemente der Renaissance und Rokoko vereint, ist weitgehend baugleich mit dem Kroatischen Nationaltheater Zagreb (1894) und dem 1892/1894 errichteten Hessischen Staatstheater Wiesbaden. In den Anfangszeiten diente es als Musik- und Sprechtheater, konzentrierte sich aber nach dem Bau des Schauspielhauses im Jahr 1926 auf Oper, Operette und Ballett.
Um diesen Virtual Geocache zu loggen, musst Du 3 Bedingungen erfüllen:
- Begebe Dich zu den Ankerkoordinaten und besuche die Statue der nackten Frau. Nahe bei Ihrem Fuss kannst Du eine Innschrift erkennen „AB.CD-EF“. Sende mir diesen Geheimcode per Nachrichts-Funktion - beachte dazu Spoiler-Bild n°1
- Gleich in der Nähe hat es eine eiserne Laterne, welche man um das ganze Gebäude verteilt vorfindet. Der Hersteller ist jeweils angeschrieben mit: „A. BC. DEFGHIJ-KLMN“. Sende auch diesen Namen – beachte hierzu Spoiler-Bild n°2
- Mache ein Bild des Opernhauses und halte ein Zettel darin, wo Dein Geocachernamen und das Log-Datum deutlich zu lesen sind – siehe als Beispiel Spoiler-Bild n°3

Zurich Opera House is located at Sechseläutenplatz, where the traditional Zurich Guild Festival is held every year. The building was called “Stadttheater” until 1964 and has been called the Opera House ever since; it was opened on October 1st, 1891 with a performance of Wagner's Lohengrin and can accommodate 1100 people.
The building was originally planned for Krakow but was never realized there but was erected rapidly within less than 2 years in Zurich. The building, which combines Renaissance and Rococo style elements, is largely identical in construction to the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb (1894) and the Hessian State Theatre in Wiesbaden (1892/1894). In the beginning, it served as a music and spoken theatre, but after the construction of the “Schauspielhaus” theatre in 1926 it concentrated on opera, operetta and ballet.
To log this Virtual Geocache you must meet 3 conditions:
- go to the anchor coordinates and visit the statue of the naked woman. Near the foot you may find an inscription "AB.CD-EF". Send me this secret code by the message function - see also spoiler picture n°1
- nearby there is an iron lantern which can be found all around the building. The manufacturer is marked with: "A. BC. DEFGHIJ-KLMN". Also send this name - refer to spoiler picture n°2
- take a picture of the opera house and hold a paper where your geocacher name and the log date can be read clearly - see spoiler picture n°3
Armchair logging is not desired! Logs that do not meet these conditions will be deleted!
