Deutsch: Kurzer geschichtlicher Abriss
In St. Gallen hat man die Möglichkeit, Geschichte aus den letzten 1400 Jahren auf engstem Raum nachzuvollziehen. Einen kleinen Abriss zeigt dieser virtuelle Cache.
612 errichtet der Mönch Gallus eine Einsiedlerklause. 719 gründete Otmar an dieser Stelle eine Abtei. Heute steht die Stiftskirche auf den Überresten der alten Abtei (WP 1).
Ab 1526 führte der damalige Bürgermeister von St. Gallen, Vadian, die Reformation in St. Gallen ein. Er schaut auch heute noch in Form eines Denkmals in Richtung Stiftskirche (WP 2).
Fortan war die Laurenzenkirche die reformierte Stadtkirche (WP 3).
Um die Religionswirren zu klären und entschärfen, wurde die sogenannte Schiedemauer gebaut, welche die katholische Fürstabtei von der reformierten Stadt trennte (WP 4).
Logbedingungen
WP 1: Schaue dir die Uhren an den Türmen genau an. Was ist daran unkonventionell?
WP 2: Vadian steht auf einem Marmorsockel und einer Gusseisenplatte. Was steht auf dieser gusseisernen Bodenplatte (betrachte alle 4 Seiten).
WP 3: Über dem Hauptportal der St. Laurenzenkirche (mittlere, grösste Türe) ist ein Gegenstand in den Sandstein geschlagen. Um was handelt es sich?
WP 4: Mache ein Foto von der Schiedemauer, das deine Anwesenheit beweist.

In St. Gallen, you have the opportunity to retrace history from the last 1400 years. This virtual cache shows the most important stations.
In 612, the monk Gallus built a hermitage. In 719 Otmar founded an abbey at the same place. The collegiate church was builded on the remains of the old abbey (WP 1).
From 1526, the then mayor of St. Gallen, Vadian, introduced the reformation in St. Gallen. His monument still looks towards the collegiate church (WP 2).
From then on, the Laurenzenkirche was the protestant City Church (WP 3).
In order to clarify and defuse the religious turmoil, the so called Schiedemauer was built, which separated the Catholic Abbess of the protestant city (WP 4).

WP 1: Take a close look at the clocks on the towers. What is unconventional about them?
WP 2: Vadian stands on a marble base and a cast iron plate. What is written on this cast-iron bottom plate (look at all four sides).
WP 3: Above the main portal of St. Laurence's Church (middle, largest door) an object is struck in the sandstone. What is it?
WP 4: Take a foto of the Schiedemauer, which proves your presence.
