Originally, Ernst Friedrich Kirsten had people look for coal on his field. Instead they found an abundance of clay. Therefore, Kirsten founded a brick factory in 1860. The first kiln, however, was soon destroyed in a fire. A new factory was built on Zaußwitzer Straße. In 1867, the company E. Ferdinand Müller Gut und Ziegelei took over. Field rail tracks were laid and the clay was transported by horse-drawn wagons.
In 1926, the production was shut down. In 1928, the plant was completely destroyed in a fire and demolished afterwards.
Later a waste disposal site was set up here.
From Strehlaer Tageblatt (local newspaper)
The brick factory on Zaußwitzer Straße was located about 400 m in a north-western direction.
