Geocache Description:

A simple multi cache along a lovely wildlife haven which follows the meandering River Avon, not far from the busy A303. You get three bridges for the price of one on this cache, and you must visit then all to determine the location of the cache.

Lord's Walk was an avenue planted by Lord Carleton (1676-1720) and was formerly known as Lord Carleton's Walk. The Avenue was the formal approach to Kent House, itself the gatehouse to Amesbury Abbey estate (Kent House is the one at the top of the hill between Countess Roundabout and Amesbury, opposite the top entrance to Lord's Walk, Diana House is the one by the river opposite the lower entrance to Lord's Walk). The lower section of Lord's Walk (alongside the river) was not originally part of the Avenue. First part conveyed to Amesbury Parish Council by Sir Philip Antrobus 18th September 1950 for the sum of £600.00 Second part conveyed to Amesbury Parish Council by Lincoln College, Oxford 25th May 1978 for the sum of £3500.00.

The Little Bridges series was started by Stanthews in 2009 to highlight small footbridges in remote parts of Wiltshire. Since then the series has been expanded by others all over the country and starting to spread fast. A list of cachers who have found 10 or more little bridges and can be found here, if you would like to add to the series, please contact Stan on stanthews@aol.com and he will give you a number for your bridge, to qualify, the bridge must be a foot bridge too small for vehicles, please make sure your title exactly matches “Little Bridges # xx then name” including spaces so it will get picked up and added to the list.

THE CACHE

Visit the headline coords and count the number of vertical posts to give you values for A B

Visit the first waypoint for the second bridge and count the number of upright posts to give you values for C D

On either bridge, examine the screws that hold the handrails in place and count the number of points on the star in the screw head for E

Now head for waypoint two (you will have passed it earlier) and find the year that John was born 19FG

The cache can be found a short walk away at N51 10.(B-D) (A(E+F) W001 46. (GC (E+A)

You are looking for a small camouflaged container that is big enough to take small travel bugs, which has been placed in the only spot I can find in Amesbury that hasn't already been taken.
