Das Dorf:
Obertaufkirchen ist eine kleine, aber sehr alte Ortschaft am Rand des Isentals im Landkreis Mühldorf, Oberbayern. Ihre Geschichte reicht bis ins 8. Jahrhundert zurück. Sie lässt sich teilweise an der großen Pfarrkirche St. Martin und Magdalena nachvollziehen, deren über 1 Meter dicke Mauern an der Süd-, West- und Nordseite des Langhauses und das Erdgeschoß des Turms aus der Mitte des 12. Jahrhunderts stammen. Die Größe der Kirche verweist auch auf ihre Bedeutung als Tauf- und Pfarrkirche für die gesamte Umgebung. Heute ist der Ort vom Strukturwandel geprägt. Vom Bauerndorf entwickelt er sich mehr und mehr zu einem Vorort von München, was durch die für Ende 2019 geplante Inbetriebnahme des Autobahnanschlusses der A 94 ausgelöst wurde und weiter stark beschleunigt werden dürfte.

Der Cache liegt im - sehr ruhigen - Ortszentrum und lädt ein, die Kirche mit dem umgebenden Friedhof zu besuchen und sich am Dorfbrunnen mit der schön gestalteten Freifläche zu entschleunigen.
Der österlich geschmückte Dorfbrunnen
Die Cacherunde ist ca. 4 km lang und zu Fuß in gut zwei Stunden zu bewältigen. Mit einem feldwegtauglichen Fahrrad geht es schneller. Auch geländegängige Kinderwagen können mitgenommen werden. Alle Caches sind so versteckt, dass sie nah an Wegen liegen. Nirgendwo muss geklettert oder an gefährlichen Stellen gesucht werden. Daher die dringende Bitte: Bleibt auf den Wegen! Trampelpfade querfeldein schädigen die Bauern und können dazu führen, dass unser schönes Hobby reglementiert wird. Die meisten Cache-Dosen können auch von Kindern erreicht werden, bei einigen ist die Hilfe von Größeren nötig.
Einzelne Caches sind mit Kraftfahrzeugen erreichbar. Darauf wird mit den Attributen hingewiesen. Wo kein "Parken"-Attribut steht, kann man mit KFZ nicht hinfahren (zumindest nicht, ohne Aufsehen zu erregen, was wir Cacher ja nicht wollen).
The Village
Obertaufkirchen is a small but very old settlement at the rim of the Isen valley in the district of Mühldorf in Upper Bavaria. Its history dates back to the early Middle Ages into the 8th century. It can partly be recognised at the big parish church St Martin and Madleine. the more than 1 meter thick walls of the south, west and north side of the nave and the hall of the entrance tower were constructed in the middle of the 12th century. The size of the church is reflecting its significance as baptising and parish church for larger surroundings. Today, the community is characterized by structural change. From a rural village it is developing into a suburb of Munich. This process will be accelerated by the opening of the motorway connection in late 2019.
The cache is hidden in the - very quiet - centre of the village. It invites you to visit the church and the surrounding cemetery. Both are typical for Upper Bavaria. On the benches near the village fountain you can relax and prepare yourself for the other caches of this circuit.
The cache circuit is approximately 4 kilometres long and can be done in two to two and a half hours by pedestrians. You also can use a bike or take along an all-terrain stroller. All caches are hidden closse to paths. It is not necessary to climb or to search at dangerous places. Therefore the urgent request: Please stay on the roads and paths! Cross country trails damage the fields and annoy the farmers. They can lead to legal reglementations of geocaching.
Some caches can be reached by motorised vehicles. This is referred to with a "Parking" attribute. Where you don't find this attribute you can't reach the cache by car or any other motorised vehicle (at least not without attracting attention).
