This is cache number 1646 in the Little Bridges Series created by Stanthews. It is located at the beginning of the M403 cycle/foot path between Calne and Chippenham. The bridge is over a short branch of The Wilts and Berks canal that led through three locks to Chaveywell wharf in Calne. The canal was completedin 1810 and abandoned in 1914, with this section being reopened in 1989.
The cache and bridge takes it name from the Chaveywell, which can be seen near this cache. This was the only safe drinking water in Calne between 1880-1890, but is now mostly used as a dog wash.
Parking can be found nearby at N51 26.187 W 002 00.332 but can be busy during to the week due to a doctors surgery and Marden House functions. Alternative Parking can be found at N51 26.326 W 002 00.232 where 2 hours free parking is available.
The cache is in a high muggle area, so stealth will be required, it is also wheel friendly, but may require assistance to retrieve.
Due to cache being muggled, have now reduced the size to a micro same location.
