Clean Up the San Jac River

Time to do a little clean up in our play pen before paddling back north to the takeout.  Bring your grabbers and help clean up the San Jacinto River in the area of NLH 12W. Trash bags will be provided. The San Jacinto River Cachers will haul the trash off in the boat or schedule for the HOA to pick it up from East End Park.

If only attending the event the nearest launch point is BJ's Marina. Participation in the paddle before and / or after the event, or even camping out, is not required to log the event. The paddle distance from BJ's to the camp site is 1.95 miles

Paddle Plan and Other Associated Events

GC84R2B - Boat Loading Party - 5/18/19 @ 8:00 AM to 8:45 AM - Meet at Taco Cabana at US59 & Northpark for breakfast and to load the boat with camping gear.

GCX84R2G - The 3.08 Annual Paddle the San Jac River for a Dog - 5/18/19 @ 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM - Meet at East Fork San Jacinto 1485 Kayak Launch for launch event. Unload kayaks and then shuttle cars to park at the LHWP Kayak Launch. We will provide car shuttle between kayak drop and LHWP parking. Note that it costs ~$3 per person, depending on age, to enter LHWP.

5/18/19 @ 10:30 AM - Paddle south on the East Fork San Jacinto picking up all the ESJR caches and then continue toward the camp site picking up NLH caches. Total paddle distance is 7.2 miles but it's all down stream.

A further safety paddle disclaimer is needed. At past events we have had experienced paddlers, new paddlers, and even paddlers that come in nonsea worthy craft. All are welcome except the nonsea worthy craft. This has caused issues as these people first and foremost put themselves and others at risk and second need significant baby sitting and have come to expect Team 150% to drag them from cache to cache or expect to paddle to only the event and then claim all the caches found by the group. This will not be acceptable anymore and the following rules will be implemented this year:

1 - Paddling to all of the caches is required to log the caches. We don't care if you don't get out of the kayak to hunt the cache but you at least have to be with the group to claim the smiley.

2 - If you show up with nonsea worthy equipment Team 150% will inform you of his opinion and then inform you he will not spend all day rescuing you or dragging you from one cache to another as it is not fair to Team 150% or the other cachers.

3 - For this particular paddle the far reaches of the river (between the launch and ESJR 12N) can be paddled in kayaks but is not navigable with the boat therefore this support is not available along this stretch anyway.

5/18/19 - Arrive at camp site. Set up tent, etc. Feel free to paddle in the area grabbing more caches.

GC839KB - The 1st Annual Camp the San Jac River - 5/4/19 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM - Well we did the 1.75 Annual, the 2nd Annual, the 2.13 Annual, and the 2.46 Annual paddles but this time we will hold the first camping trip! Get those tents, sleeping bags, and smores ready!

Event to be held on sandbar near NLH 12W Alpha A. This is a luscious tropical beach (ok it’s a white river sand bar courteous of Hurricane Harvey). At the event San Jacinto River Cachers will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, and chips. Event will officially start at 6 PM but realistically it’s going to be happening from ~2:00 PM to until the lights go out as Team 150%, G&N, geojrh, and others will be on the sand bar setting up and watching everybody grab caches. All who make it to the sand bar, regardless of time, are welcome to log the event.

If only attending the event the nearest launch point is BJ's Marina. Participation in the paddle before and / or after the event, or even camping out, is not required to log the event. The paddle distance from BJ's to the camp site is 1.95 miles

GC84R2H - Yummm...Sausage, Bacon, & Eggs - 5/19/19 @ 7:30 AM - Time for sausage, bacon, and eggs to refuel!

GC84R2J - Clean Up the San Jac River - 5/19/19 @ 9:00 AM - Bring your grabbers and help clean up the San Jacinto River in the area of NLH 12W. Trash bags will be provided. The San Jacinto River Cachers will haul the trash off in the boat or schedule for the HOA to pick it up from East End Park.

Feel free to paddle the area in the morning grabbing more caches.

5/19/19 @ 10:00 AM - Depart paddling up Peach Creek toward take out grabbing caches along the way. In the event the current is strong near the Caney Creek / Peach Creek split Team 150% will shuttle personnel in his boat to the take out.

Looking forward multiple great events and paddles!
