The previous cache in this location (https://coord.info/GC1CX9M) was developed in conjunction with several other geocachers around the country. The project was initiated by Spindoc Bob aka The Spindoctors aka Darren Osbourne, who was a wonderful man who did so much for the geocaching community, including hosting the Geotalk podcast. Unfortunately the geotalk podcasts are no longer readily available, so the original puzzle cache at this location has now been archived, in favour of this new cache - and a chance for you to reminisce.
Darren started his geocaching journey in Canberra in 2003, but he had moved to Sydney before I found my first geocache in 2006. Canberra's loss was NSW's gain because he was then instrumental in establishing Geocaching NSW and the subsequent reversal of the ban on geocaches in NSW national parks. Tragically Darren died in 2015, after losing his fight against brain cancer, leaving a wife and two small children. However, he will not be forgotten by anyone who had the honour of meeting him.
And just in case you didn't have the chance to know Darren, here is a taste of the legacy he left behind:

There are also quite a few of Darren's geocaches still active in the ACT and NSW.
For those of you who did know Darren, I encourage you to reminisce about this wonderful person and write something about him in your log. My greatest memory Darren was from the Mega event in Dunedin, NZ, where we were both staying in the onsite cabins and shared our lack of sleep woes caused by our respective cabin mates. We both had a few other memorable experiences on that trip too - his involved the police and mine involved events leading up to almost missing my return flight to Australia. But that is a story for another day...
There are envelopes inside the cache with a small gift for the first 3 finders.
